I’ve spent the last several years building products that help people earn and transact onchain. I’ve seen firsthand how fast stablecoins have grown and how quickly tokenized assets have moved from idea to reality. It is clear that stablecoins have already made money native to the internet. The next step is making saving native too.
Speculation has found its home online. Payments have found their rails. But saving, the most universal and durable consumer behavior in finance, still has not crossed the threshold. And when it does, I believe it will become one of the most dominant behaviors onchain.
Saving is the quiet foundation of financial life. It is not about speculation or chasing yield. It is about discipline, protection, and the future. Every culture has built mechanisms around it. In the UK, premium bonds turned deposits into a national ritual, proving that safety combined with occasional upside can scale across generations. In India, households direct huge shares of income toward deposits and gold, showing how powerful the savings instinct is when people are given accessible channels.
And yet, younger generations today save at far lower rates than their parents did. Part of that is economic pressure. Another part is that the systems we have given them to save with feel outdated, inaccessible, and uninspiring. We have modernized payments and trading, but not saving. Until saving feels as native and engaging as the rest of our financial life online, it will remain underdeveloped.
At Layer3, we have spent years building consumer products that endure across cycles. We generated roughly $20 million in revenue over the last twelve months, with most of those months profitable. We reached millions of users and supported them across dozens of chains. That track record matters because it proves that distribution at scale is possible in crypto, and that consumer products can succeed even in volatile markets. With that foundation, I believe now is the time to bring a stablecoin savings product to market.
A key enabler is the Layer3 Wallet, which we launched to simplify onboarding and expand distribution. Combined with our relationships across major stablecoin issuers and DeFi protocols, this allows us to tap into boosted yield opportunities, whether through issuer-funded rewards or custom pools, while keeping the consumer experience simple. Users always protect their principal and receive a clear base yield. A smaller percentage earn outsized rewards in a way that creates habit. We intend to roll this out with region-specific branding so that it feels like a familiar savings account on mobile, not a crypto app. The result is broad appeal: retail users gain a product they can use as naturally as their bank, protocols gain liquidity, and stablecoin issuers benefit from deeper adoption.
Stablecoins are no longer an experiment. They represent hundreds of billions in liquidity, already functioning as the internet’s native dollars. Tokenized Treasuries have quietly crossed into the billions, proving that safe yield can live onchain. Together, they form a foundation strong enough to support a savings product that is not bound by borders and not limited to early adopters.
I believe this combination makes saving one of the next great consumer primitives on the internet.
When I think back to the early days of crypto, the blockers were obvious: seed phrases, clunky onboarding, and confusing interfaces. Today, those barriers are disappearing. Passkey-based wallets make sign-up feel like logging into Gmail. Embedded onramps let someone buy stablecoins inside an app in minutes. Mobile design has matured to the point where “crypto” no longer feels like crypto. It simply feels like finance.
That matters because it shortens the distance between intent (“I should save”) and action (“I am saving”).
The goal is not to create another trading product. The goal is to make saving habitual. Principal should always be safe. A base yield should be clear and easy to understand. On top of that, there should be moments of delight that give people reasons to keep balances parked, to check in, and to build the habit.
I do not see this as speculation. I see it as discipline wrapped in reward, delivered at the speed of software.
Five years ago, the timing was not right. Stablecoin liquidity was shallow. Tokenized assets barely existed. Wallets were hostile to anyone but developers. Onramps were clunky.
Today, the ingredients are here. Stablecoins are scaled. Tokenized Treasuries are real. Wallet UX feels familiar. Onramps are embedded everywhere. The foundation has been built.
Stablecoins made money native to the internet. Saving is next. And unlike trading, this is not a niche behavior. It is universal. It is cultural. It has the potential to grow larger than anything that has come before in crypto.
That is why I believe saving will be the next great internet primitive. It will be as natural as checking your balance, as durable as deposits in a bank, but powered by the scale and speed of stablecoins.
The rails are finally here. Billions of consumers want to save, not speculate. The internet has money. Soon, it will have saving.
